Summary
Tess Maren is three months out of an Earth commune and still learning how to walk like she belongs somewhere. When you've been immortal for as long as Verso has, it's inevitiable that some of your deaths may have been more purposeful than others.
Picking fights that are impossible for you to win, making plans that are a little too risky, not following medical advice when you really should be following it to the letter; Verso has done those sorts of things thousands of times. Maybe even more than that.
Fuck, that's not even mentioning all of times that he—That's not the point, though.
The point, Verso thinks, is that he wasn't planning for this.
