Summary
Melissa King and Frank Langdon have a weird relationship that nobody at the Pitt really gets. They're not quite close in the way Santos is with Whittaker, or the way Langdon is with Garcia. Maybe it's closer to Jack and Robby, but not quite.
Mel and Frank get flustered around each other a lot. That is what sets them apart, beyond the fact that they know each other to a tee and seem to communicate via only brainwaves.
Sometimes, they get caught being flustered by one another, usually people who are tiredly waiting for the pair to shut up and kiss.

"You know, Frank, what do men like women to wear on these dates?" she asked, carefree and oblivious to how much that would affect him. My God, she was asking him for tips on how to dress for another man. He thought Mel's trust in him might kill him one day.
Where Mel just wants someone to go to Renaissance faires with and share a few kisses, and Frank offers to play matchmaker for her and Dr. Shen.

It started out like this–
Frank needed a date to his ex-wife’s wedding.
Mel needed a date for her mom’s wedding.
And they both needed a plus one for Samira’s wedding.
So naturally, it made sense to just go together. Be each other’s dates for the wedding season.
After all, that’s what roommates did.
Or: Mel and Frank attend four weddings and one funeral over the course of a year.
