“I don’t want to do what they expect.” Mikes voice had been sharp with frustration, “Not anymore. I feel like if i don’t follow their plan, everything will fall apart. But if i do–” He’d shaken his head hard. “It’s not even mine.”
Will had kept quiet for a long time, legs swinging slightly, sketchbook balanced on his knees.
Then, almost joking. “We could run.”
Mike had laughed. A short, disbelieving sound. “Yeah, okay.”
But Will had turned to look at him, really look at him. And something in his expression had shifted. Curious, hopeful and a little scared.
“What if we did?” Will had asked. “We could run away.”

“Jeez, you really are sick.” Will muttered and Mike choked out a laugh.
“‘S just my luck.” He murmured, ignoring the way his head spun when he lifted it from the toilet seat.
Even under the harsh white light of the bathroom, Will still looked good, his honey brown eyes furrowed in concern and lips slightly parted. He was beautiful, and Mike wanted to bite him.
He recoiled a bit at the thought but now that he had thought it, it wouldn't go away. He could imagine it, digging his teeth into Will’s wrist, blood beading from the teeth marks faster than he could lick it up. The rushing in his ears got louder, twin heartbeats thudding in his ears and Mike turned to heave into the toilet again, not even bothering to stop the sobs that were ripping through him.

“Why do I—” Mike splutters. “Because I care, Will! I care about you.”
Honestly — what was Mike expecting? That the past month didn’t happen? That they aren’t being weird again? The end of a literal apocalypse did more harm to their friendship than good, apparently, and it’s not something either of them can ignore.

Will froze. Absolutely froze.
His hand was buried in Mike Wheeler’s hair. Mike - who was practically draped over him now - looked blissful. Borderline euphoric. His eyes had fluttered half-shut. There was a tiny, content smile on his lips.
Will stared down at him, heart doing somersaults.
“Uh,” Will said intelligently.
Mike made another sound - soft, almost dreamy - and nudged Will’s hand, encouraging, needy without even realising it.
Will’s brain short-circuited.
💕💕💕💕
The first time Will runs his fingers through Mike’s hair, it’s an accident.
The second time… maybe not so much.
Before long, Mike is leaning into every touch, Will is desperately trying not to make it weird, and the Party is very, very done with them.
