Summary
Shizuo expected to be met with overt grandstanding or a knife aimed at his throat, depending on Izaya's mood. What he didn’t expect was to see Izaya still standing next to the railing, looking over the city with his back turned to Shizuo.
The informant's posture was rigid, his left-hand drumming against the railing while his right hand clutched a briefcase tight to his body.
He still didn’t acknowledge Shizuo.
The hell is this? Shizuo frowned, hesitating only a moment before resuming his purposeful stride.
“Izaya!” he growled again, this time loud enough to be heard.
Izaya stiffened and turned slowly. Something flashed in his eyes for a moment, too fast for Shizuo to catch and then it was gone.

Someone manages to put Izaya on his back foot and it's not Shizuo. And he's not quite sure how to deal with that.

Did the DSO ever negotiate with terrorists?
The obvious answer was 'no'. In all the time Leon had been working as an agent, never once had he heard of a rescue mission for a missing colleague. If an agent failed their mission it usually meant one of two things, either they'd been lucky and were dead, or if not – well, they might have ended up in a situation like he just had. Which usually meant they would be dead in five to ten business days. Either way they were not coming back. His only hope at this point would be that he could find a way out by himself.

Hi! I'm not a big Chris/Leon shipper, but after Vendetta and Death Island I felt their chemistry quite a bit. I saw the hanging scene in Degeneration, but instead of Angela, I wanted to test Leon's body with someone else. Someone bigger. Chris volunteered. I swear.

--------------------------------------------------------This starts out more or less as a retelling of RE: Requiem from a certain point, with emphasis of Grace's POV. Plenty of whump and comfort ahead.
