Hanbin stared into Hao’s eyes for what felt like an eternity. The quietness of the next few beats presaged the calm before the storm.
“You’ve never kissed me while drunk,” Hanbin muttered. His voice was low, yet latched with so much anguish it Hao wondered whether he was hallucinating the whole thing. “So why him?”

Uncharacteristically slow on the uptake, he realizes his glasses must have fogged over, uncertain if he should feel amused or ashamed until Hanbin pulls them off of him and then he feels fucking turned on.
Because Hanbin’s eyes are blown dark, his lips are shiny and wet, and he looks at Zhang Hao like he’s still a little angry but mostly like he wants to devour him.

Zhang Hao doesn’t understand why the literature always talks about fireworks. There are no explosions inside him, no grand revelation, no bombastic feeling of accomplishment. It’s a slow, ever-present burn, it’s a comforting orange-toned light, it’s warmth radiating in the centre of his chest, whenever Hanbin is close, whenever he thinks of him.
