Zosia should be unreachable now — for Carol's own good — but instead, Zosia watches her from above, bound by the rules Carol strives to uphold and also bound by a “love” Carol seems unable to extinguish.

The radiance of the sun’s rays that had awakened her as her body had been resting messily on the left side of Carol’s bed couldn’t compare to the radiance of watching Carol now – right there before her – writing with avid concentration and such beautiful, unwavering focus.
That particular light was brighter than morning itself.
And this precise moment was the perfect opportunity to make Carol understand even a small fraction of the happiness that awaited her in the Joining. The concept of suffering a separation while in the midst of the magnitude of the Joining was... disconcerting, to say the least.
Zosia had been claimed and had been discarded. But even after that, in amidst of sleepless nights soaked by whisky, Zosia was still needed – in safe doses and at safe distant – for Carol Sturka and all her contradictions.

Summary
Nearly a year after her bloody escape from the blue tinged bathroom, Jigsaw's promise of redemption through induction to his methods comes to fruition. Lynn Denlon engages begrudgingly, grappling with her regained identity coming to adds with her new job. Meanwhile, Amanda Young enters her life, hurt, fragile, and annoying, needling away at Lynn's own conflicting morals with every visit she makes to Lynn's apartment. Lynn becomes too familiar with an injured and bleeding out Amanda, too familiar with the jabs and bites they exchange. That's not the problem though.
The problem is that Lynn may not want her to leave as much as she says she does.

Lynn dies in the medical room. Or, at least, she thinks she does. There’s a horrible few minutes where she’s begging Jeff to stay, stay with me, and he doesn’t hear her, or he does and ignores her. She’s unheard, either way, just as she has been for more of her short life than she’d care to admit. Jeff kills Jigsaw, and a dozen explosions deafen her for a split second before there is nothing.
Or, there was nothing, and now there is something again.
Lynn and Amanda haunt the meat-packing plant after death. Neither of them know why.
