Summary
Next time, Aki told Makima. Next time, he wanted to tell Angel. I would do that next time. We can do it next time. Would there ever be a next time? Would there ever be a tomorrow, even?
It’s such an impossible, stupid thing, to hope for a future that neither of them can have. That doesn't stop either of them from wanting it anyway.

Summary
Hikaru died on the mountain many months ago, and something wearing his face came back.
Yoshiki knows that.
He knows that, and yet it doesn't matter, because he will pretend that it didn't happen. He will pretend that it's the real Hikaru sitting beside him, smiling at him without a care in the world.
As long as he's here, Yoshiki will keep pretending.

Summary
In his first life, L died in the arms of his greatest enemy.
In his brief second one, he died alone.
And in his third, too-long life, L died anticipating finally getting even with the man who'd won their game one too many times.
And Light Yagami? If he'd known this is what picking up the Death Note would bring....well, he'd probably still have done it anyway.

Summary
"All right," says Akechi, settling grimly into his booth seat like he's getting ready for a war. "I'll entertain your misguided opinions. What elevates Black Condor above every other Featherman not just in the current flight, but in every other flight that's ever been on the screen?"
And once again Ren is staring the awkward truth in the face. I'm not really into Featherman. I lied the other day. I just couldn't cope with living in Tokyo without you, so I had to take weird measures, haha. Yeah, you're right, it is pretty pathetic. No, don't leave.
It starts when Ren buys a Featherman keychain in memory of his rival. No problems so far, except that his rival is dead, and Tokyo is a hollowed-out husk without him. But when Ren runs into Akechi at a midnight premiere, the landscape changes, and he's faced with his biggest challenge since he killed his last god: Convince Goro Akechi that he likes Featherman.

Summary
Futaba closes the door again for some thinking time. That was Goro Akechi on her doorstep. Well, on Sojiro’s doorstep, but Sojiro’s not here. Only Futaba is here.
Open door. Peep round it. Akechi is a sort of heap on the step. Asleep? Or… possibly dead? Dead mom-killing ex-detective on Futaba’s doorstep? Didn’t he die four years ago? How is he here? Futaba hasn’t slept. Or eaten. She shouldn’t have to deal with this. What do you even do with a murder-detective possibly-corpse? She closes the door.
Okay, no, she can’t just ignore him and hope he goes away.
Well, she could though. It’s super super tempting.
No, come on. What would Ren do? What would Sojiro do?
What would Mom do?

“You told him you were your own ghost?” says Makoto. She’s trying to sound disapproving, but she can’t hide the note of shocked laughter.
“How’d he take it?” says Ryuji, in roughly the way you’d inquire after a really horrible bug.
Ren thinks about the demon stalking through Mementos cursing and cackling and calling out his name. Joker, Joker! “Uh,” he says. “Badly.”
