A rustling sound came from the staircase leading to the second floor. Cassie instinctively pulled a blanket over herself.
Cassie's husband, Nate, had stayed behind at the construction site and wasn't spending the night in the villa. Alone, unknown number, mysterious noises—it was all the setup for a horror movie.
The voice on the other end turned cutting.
"No? You graduated from East Highland, which is a total scary movie."
"Fuck. Who are you? Do I even know you?"
Cassie's grip on her phone tightened—this already bizarre situation had somehow dragged in the nightmare that was East Highland High.
"You are obsessed with me, sweetie."
