    Penelope re-enters society after a year in mourning for her late husband, and standing in the middle of Lady Danbury’s ball she has never felt more like a stranger. A stranger to the people around her and to herself. So she’ll go back to hiding in the corners of the room, and watch on quietly like she did once before.

    However, as she stands in the corner by the refreshment table, she meets Colin Bridgerton.
