(For the record, James still has no idea how it all came to pass. He has no idea how the unidentifiable something between him and Jack Sparrow - James isn’t going to call it hate and he sure as hell isn’t going to call it rivalry and there’s, frankly speaking, no good word in the languages he knows that would describe his feeling towards the Captain in all their complexity of disgust, annoyance and maybe the smallest trace of admiration over the stories James used to hear about - shifted into something just as unidentifiable and yet remarkably different.
