Agatsuma Zenitsu was no stranger to tragedy.
He could remember the sun shining down on him in false hope, the screams and desperate pleas of others, and the sight of his once dear friend lunging for him, eyes scarlet with mirth as the last of his energy ebbed out of him.
He could remember dying, to put it plainly.
At least, that was until his eyes opened to see a swathe of tall trees, his katana in hand, and the darkness around him.
He was alive.
How? He didn't know. But he knew that this was a second chance, even if it was utter hell. And maybe with this second chance, he could do better and have a happier life. After all, he knew what would happen in the future. He could change everything.

Zenitsu is sent back to Final Selection, back before any of the true chaos had ensued. He makes it his goal to use the knowledge from his past life to win the battle in this one.
