Summary
(Based on the show "The Walking Dead")
Serina lives a very mundane and happy life. She lives with her sister Lori, overprotective brother in law Rick, and adorable nephew Carl. If it were up to her, she would want to live her whole life like this, happy and close with her family. However, it would appear that life seemed to have other plans for her. for she receives news that the only brother she has in her life, Rick was shot in the line of duty , and had entered a comatose state.
Heartbroken, and grief stricken, Serina is not at all prepared when the world decides to end, only three months later. With no choice, Serina has to leave the only home she's ever known, and flee the city along with her sister, nephew. They set up camp and try their best to live a peaceful life whilst the world as they know it, succumb to the walking dead.
Serina must accept the rules of survival in this new world, while trying to protect her family, and withholding the morals she had in her owl world. She must soon come to terms with the fact that in this new world, it's kill or be killed, something the gentle-hearted girl must overcome, before the new world ends up breaking her.

This fic follows Sophia as she gets separated from the group and attempts to make her way back to them while also braving the horrors of wasteland.

"Where'd you come from?" Shane questions. "You're a long way from the refugee center."
"Atlanta."
"Oh, you poor thing," Lori breathes, stricken, exchanging a glance with Shane. "We never made it into the city, but we… we saw the bombs."
I didn't know there was a refugee center. This is the first time I've been outside in… God, it must be months now. We've been cooped up at home for weeks, waiting for the pandemic to pass. I must look about as clueless as I feel, because the questions stop.
"We're glad you're with us," Shane says eventually, making eye contact with me in the rearview. "Makin' it outta that city on your own? We could use somebody like you."
Somebody like me. Right.
