Summary
The money he'd stolen from Hydra has almost run out when he finds a black piece of card stock with blocky capital letters stapled to a telephone pole:
FUNNEL NO. 9
DO YOU HAVE KNIFE SKILLS?
WE NEED YOU
And then below, there's a phone number.
Knife skills? I have knife skills, he thinks. That part is pretty self-explanatory, though he has no idea what Funnel No. 9 could mean. He doesn't really want to get back into the hitman business, but needs must, and Bucky Barnes is a practical man.

Summary
200 years is a long time to be lonely, but much like everything Bucky puts his mind to, he has perfected it. He has a string of dedicated human suitors and a well-curated existence of luxury and excess with no motivation to see a shift in his status quo. Then he meets Steve Rogers.
Steve's life has been long and full of pack, family, and love. These days, he lives comfortably and loves at his leisure, content to be part of a well-established pack that has flourished for centuries, both in his homeland of Ireland and in New York.
Meeting James Barnes provides an unexpected amusement that he's more than happy to indulge in.

Summary
Steve Rogers led a quiet life on a farm with his dog, Cap, a few animals and his greenhouse full of plants. In a world torn apart by humanity's past mistakes, remaking itself the best it could, solitude was simpler, if not a little lonely. It was safer.
But then he finds a broken and bloody man, half dead and abandoned before the biggest cluster storm of the year, and he has no choice but to take him home and tend his wounds.
Who was this mystery man shrouded in secrets, and why was Steve so drawn to him and his story?
When two strangers come together in a world full of uncertainty and change, both seeking comfort, both seeking meaning, would it all end in disaster or could they just maybe be each other's salvation?

Summary
Hydra worked out that they could manipulate the Winter Soldier more effectively if there were rewards as well as punishments, especially if those rewards were delivered by a blond man called Steve. Despite the large gaps in his memory, the Winter Soldier becomes aware that the more recent Steves are not the real Steve. The real Steve is long gone, replaced by a string of phonies.
He thinks this new Steve won't be any different from the others he vaguely remembers, but this new Steve doesn't seem to know the correct protocols. This new Steve has no clue what he's doing. It doesn't take the Winter Soldier long to realise that he doesn't want this Steve to be his handler, but he can't refuse his assigned handler, even if Sam would be much more effective.
