    Summary

“You wish now that our places had been exchanged. That I had died and Boromir had lived.”

From what precious little Peregrin Took has learned of Faramir, and his gentlest of souls, the expression gracing his face is not one of hope.

Rather, it quite seems more akin to that of a beaten dog as it cowers before its master. Head bowed and teeth gritted in expectation of a blow, but with a strange defiance in the eyes. Close enough to be confused with hatred.

    ***

Faramir struggles with the disparity between duty, his own private wants from his father, and what his father is actually capable of providing. Pippin watches.
