Summary
There was a part of Mari that had all the answers.
Somewhere inside of her, of course, but Mari also wasn’t an extremely poetic nor English literature-expertise person, so, it’s not like she couldn’t figure it out on her own.
The other half of her was quite obvious to say she didn’t have those answers.
Like she swallowed the key to the box—
Or some other deeply meaningful shit that Jackie or Shauna would have said a year or two ago.
Mari could feel her heart flutter just a little every time Natalie looked at her, and could feel her cheeks heat more than the cabin ever could make them when their fingers brushed a little.
She felt herself get giddy when Natalie would rarely choose to lie down next to her at night when Lottie moved around too much in her sleep, and she found herself smiling at the thought of Natalie coming back from hunting.
While she was not the smartest in the bunch, she could tell she had some stupid, raging crush on the girl.

In a universe where Mari Ibarra is not dead, does not fall into the pit, and lives—
She also simultaneously is in love with Natalie Scatorccio.

Summary
The whole cabin feels like it’s vibrating with panic, every noise amplified, every motion exaggerated, a cyclone of chaos that drags Natalie’s mind along with it.
She’s in a plane.
The plane that she’s almost positive is hidden in a heap of untouched fluffy snow, with marker scribbled over its side in bold letters.
So much for that working out.

Powder hated her school uniforms.
Well, objectively, there was actually nothing wrong with them—maybe the colours, if you asked her. Otherwise it was pretty simplistic. A white, short-sleeve button-up undershirt, a dark black or blue blazer, which, to be honest, most people never wore, and a navy skirt that had black shorts underneath.
And if you were a guy it was the same thing—only no skirt, just dark, navy pants. Trousers.
They were soft too, not itchy, and comfy enough that you could drop to your knees, curl up and fall asleep in an alley at lunchtime far from the school. Don’t ask how she knows that.

Trinity moved to intercept, but it was too late. His hand managed to grab a hand full of the nurse's hair before yanking her back and toward his arms. For a moment, Trinity thought he would succeed. That the man would manage to get the nurse into his arms. But despite everything — the strength, the pain, the lack of air — the nurse fought, yanking her own head forward before reaching for Trinity with teary eyes.
“Hu—“ She coughed. “Hoop—“
An action that lasted a second. A mere second, but felt like forever. Trinity knew at that moment that she would never be able to forget those big, scared brown eyes. Tearfilled, as they looked at Trinity with desperation.
It didn’t matter that Langdon had gotten away with endangering patients and stealing drugs. That Garcia had thrown her own words back at her and it had stung. That she might repeat her R2 year before even starting it.
It didn’t matter that this man was bigger, stronger, and angrier than her. A hand had clasped her own, digging their nails into her wrist with desperation.
Nothing mattered except protecting this nurse.
