    Easthies frowned at the page, lips pressed together tightly in small annoyance. The conversation was not going where he had intended. Admittedly, he had not actually known where he intended it to go either.

    Or: I write out my ideal post-canon for my beloved family. I am un-dooming them from the narrative because I'm too impatient for Shirahama to do so herself in 10 years. Characterization/plot leans sweeter and less tragic. I like my imaginative whimsy and queer joy!
