Summary
Qifrey has always been the one looking after his apprentices.
So when a spell of reduction goes horribly wrong and leaves him only a few inches tall and unable to care for himself, the girls find themselves with a frightening challenge.
They must confront the consequences of their mistake and make sure their teacher doesn’t get hurt.
After all, magic directed at a person is forbidden for a reason.

Summary
It's common for Witches to form pack bonds with their apprentices. Witch pups are so young when they typically join an atelier, and their journey to independence is long. Being away from one's birth pack for too long requires a surrogate pack before a pup's mental health begins to decline.
Coco knows this, but she still cannot help feeling torn between the longing to belong in Master Qifrey's pack with a yearning so strong it sets her teeth on edge, and fear of what this desire means for her bond with her mother, sleeping in stone for who knows how long.

Qifrey felt himself fighting tears once again, "But I want… I want-" his voice shook and he moved back to Olruggio's shoulder, then he lifted his head and pressed a kiss into his neck, and then another one, "I want…" then another.
Before he could keep going, Olruggio stopped him, gently pushing him away and resting a hand on the side of his face, "I know. I do too. But not right now, okay? Give it time."
ie; The curse may have been removed from his body, but it still preyed on his mind.

“Master! Master Qifrey! Coco’s hurt!”
Agott’s worried voice echoes from upstairs in the entry hall, carrying down the steps into the kitchen where Qifrey is working.
“I–I’m ok!” Coco hollers in reassurance, but Qifrey’s hands have already dropped the herbs they were binding without a second thought, leaving a scatter of tranquileaf sprigs strewn about the counter. The tone of Agott’s voice had sent a hot jolt of protective fear through his insides, his heart leaping to his throat, beating fast. He nearly trips over his skirt as he hustles up the stone steps into the living room.
.................................................Coco gets a nasty boo-boo, and Qifrey helps get her fixed up. Some big feelings come to the surface and they share an emotional moment.
