They went to high school together, sure. But Eddie never talked to King Steve, not even when he secretly thought Steve Harrington was stupidly hot and probably emotionally wrecked in a way that made him fascinating.
Now, Steve keeps recommending him movies. “Watch this,” he says. “Just trust me.”

Eddie hated the silence of the trailer. Empty, cold, too many ghosts rattling around in the dark. One nightmare too many and suddenly he was out the door, boots dragging him straight to the last place he should’ve been: Harrington’s pristine suburban castle. Great. Perfect. Exactly what he needed at 2 a.m.
He told himself he’d crack a joke, play it off, bolt before it got messy. Instead, Steve opened the door, looked at him like he mattered, and Eddie’s mask slipped. Tea, warmth, kindness... things he swore weren’t for freaks like him. Things that made him feel seen in ways that scared the hell out of him.
He should’ve left. He didn’t. And maybe that was the first time Eddie Munson let himself admit he didn’t want to.
