Summary
Maomao ignored Zuigetsu's feelings to avoid palace politics. She preferred a quiet life, focusing only on her work and staying out of trouble.
One day, Maomao was kidnapped by Shi Clan. They forced her to take Aphrodisiac. Zuigetsu recused her and she used him to detox the poison.
She avoided him again after that night, but an unexpected event changed everything, giving her the courage to finally pursue the feelings she had tried so hard to ignore.

After the death of Gyoku-ou the western capital uprises. 5 envoys sent to discuss the the conflict really sent to disrupt the royal family slipping a certain 'drug' in the food. Jinshi being a victim of said poisoning maomao 'takes care of him' leading to personal conflict.
