Jaeyun gasped. "Put me down this instant, Park Sunghoon!" His protest echoed against stone as his boots left the ground.
Sunghoon hoisted him effortlessly over his shoulder, the movement so smooth it bordered on insult. "You are attempting to depart without escort or schedule," Sunghoon said calmly, adjusting his hold. "that is unacceptable."
"I am the heir!" Jaeyun snapped, pounding ineffectually against armored muscle. "You do not manhandle me like cargo!" "You are valuable cargo," Sunghoon replied.
The courtyard had fallen silent save for the fluttering of banners. Jaeyun's face burned hotter than any forge. "Release me or I swear—"
"You will swear nothing," Sunghoon interrupted mildly. "there are eyes beyond these walls that would celebrate your recklessness."
Wherein,
Jaeyun, as the heir to the throne, does not want to be appointed for marriage like a simple delicacy to be picked.
He discovers that he is up to be assassinated and sets out to find the ring leader. He fails pathetically, and tries again after given a proper scolding by his mother.
His knight, Sunghoon, crouches beside him the entire time.
