It hit Astarion then, as he was bitterly mulling over the fat chance of finding someone around here that wouldn’t stab him at first sight, that that was what he needed. Protection. A bodyguard. Something, or someone, to persuade people into giving him the resources he needed and the answers he craved far more than the edge of a blade ever would. Someone that would make people think twice about attacking first.
What Astarion needed was a meat shield.
And a large, dumb, easily manipulated brute had just been dropped into his lap.

Zenos acted like he’d ever seen another human in his life, and he was mad at Gaius for breaking the illusion that nobody existed in the star beyond his slew of caretakers and immediate family.
Speaking of servants. Gaius turned to look over his shoulder at the entryway of the bedroom. The nanny that had escorted him here had left, and if he strained his ears, he could not hear any footsteps indicating she was still close by.

Summary
Recently accepted into college, Papyrus finds a deal on a rental home that sounds too good to be true! Sure the house is a bit rickety, and definitely shows it's age. But they're all things he can look past! In fact, he finds the weirdly pink old Victorian house rather rustic and charming.
There is...one catch though...
Strange noises at night, the feeling of being watched, and a rumor around town that someone died there a long, long time ago. Nobody knows exactly who, or how, or if it's even true. But nobody's managed to live there for more than a month, and Papyrus has definitely ran into some things in there he can't explain.
But, hey, cheap rent!

Summary
Gangle works in fast food. Zooble is a bartender. They are NPCs in a technicolor video game world with inconsistent graphics and glitching textures. They live in a perpetual fog, performing the same tasks on a cycle. It can hardly be said that they think at all. Their minds gather only enough information with which to do their jobs. According to their script, they will never meet.
But one day, they gain awareness. Not only that, but each start remembering lives and bodies they never had. Together with the other NPCs in the game, Zooble and Gangle have to reckon with their brand new relationships to their memories, their bodies, and each other.
There’s one more thing: their world is unraveling, string by string, and someone is breaking it.

Jongler wondered why nobody was at her table, feeling a tug on their heartstrings. Maybe she was new.
Resolved, they made their way over.
“Howdy,” they said, taking a seat at the table. The dealer looked at them, but instead of smiling with a hint of gratitude (like they had imagined), she glared at them.
“Hey. You wanna join a table that, I don’t know, has anyone actually there? I’m off in ten.” She said shortly, sounding unamused.
Ouch.
Jongler blinked, taken aback. They were beginning to understand why her table was empty.
Jongler is just passing through town when they run into a poker dealer who catches their attention.

By some twisted miracle, she lives, unsure as to how it was even remotely possible. Clearly someone rescued her, but who?
And Papyrus won't stop going on about his new friend.
Alphys, with all her scientific and dating sim knowledge, considered herself well-prepared. But no amount of science and shoujo anime could've prepared her for someone like Undyne.
