Summary
When her mother deliberately crashes their car, it ends Beth’s life as she knows it and strands her at Methuen Home. She has yet to learn of the chain of events this will set in motion. The one that will start with her introduction to the world of chess, give her a new mother, and take her far beyond the borders of Lexington.
As she works her way towards the very centre of that world, she meets numerous other people along the way. But among weak opponents, friendships, rivalries, and hardships there is one person who sticks out from among them all. Vasily Borgov, the intimidating World Champion from the Soviet Union with a face that is much harder to read than the sixty-four squares he rules over, catches her eyes from the start and she finds it impossible to look away.
Or, we follow Beth through canon and into the years beyond as she struggles with finding her place in the world, creating bonds with others, and substance abuse, but also finds the good things in life, such as success, friendship, and love.

Summary
A belated contribution for the Janeuary prompt 'Dearest' as requested by an anon <3
Miss Catherine ‘Kitty’ Bennet was the dearest child of neither her mother nor father. Those positions belonged to Lydia Wickham and Elizabeth Darcy, respectively. Yet Kitty did not mind, because that honour seemed to come paired with being the least dear to the opposing parent.
Kitty, accompanying Georgiana in town for the season and staying with Elizabeth and Mr Darcy in their London home, falls in love... with Colonel Fitzwilliam. But his father has certain expectations of his prospects, and Kitty has some realisations about her family to make. Yet her heart just keeps falling for him deeper and deeper.

Summary
Sometimes I think how different it would have been if she had never studied Russian. We would have continued to be unable to communicate. We would have remained confined to our roles, in a kind of habitual quiet. I liked that sense of stillness, that it doesn't make you a gift of anything, but neither does it make you lose anything.
(Beth and Vasily during a cocktail party in Palma de Mallorca will find themselves talking for the first time.)
(Fancomic created for 17th P0rn Fest edition, prompt: “Russian words that Beth doesn’t know.”)Bookmarked by Kinuwan

A fresh take on P&P with following Kitty as she ends up with an OC aunt of Mr Bennet's side of the family and has a season on London while the story of the book happens only in the background.
