Jacob was his best friend. Something more, on occasion. They orbited each other like the moon orbits the earth, in ellipses, at times closer than at others, but no matter where they were in their orbit, it always felt like it was right where they were supposed to be. There were no expectations, only nice bonuses when they would come together on one or several of their many trips between seasons.
Right now, he didn’t know where they were, but Jacob was staying in the adjacent room next door, and just as organically as it always happened, a force of nature pulled him towards it. He couldn’t sleep anyway. Might as well check if Jacob was in a similar state.
