It started as a joke about getting a hotel room just for them three to share. The joke evolved into the room only having one bed. When they got to their one bedroom, they realized the joke was stupid. But it continued to be around, evolving into joke cuddles and joke "relationship posts" with them spooning and stuff.
It was hardly a funny joke now.

He cries even harder, until he makes himself heave, and the man holding him captive rubs his back patiently, waiting calmly for him to breathe through his nose as he’s instructing him. Xie Lian doesn’t have any strength left in him to fight back, so he has no option but to obey.
“That’s it,” the man praises, kissing his lips sweetly. “Just take another deep breath for me. This will be uncomfortable only for a second. Dianxia can squeeze my hand if it’s too much.”

Matt took a step into the room, cocking his head with a cautious smile. “You’re mad that I won that stupid game?”
Blake granted himself a sip of water so that the glass could block his face for a precious moment. “No, ‘course not. I’m not a fuckin’ baby, dude.”
“Well, I’m just workin’ with what you’re giving me, buddy.” Matt huffed with candor. “D’you wanna spit it out, or…?”
Blake scowled, tracing the lines of his water glass to stall for the right way to say it. “I’m mad that you have this stupid tendency to…to—I don’t know.” He knew he was losing him, because Matt advanced much further in the room, less concerned about genuinely upsetting him. Blake floundered for his bearings. “You—you beat me so bad it was like you fuckin’ hated me, or something.”
Matt raised a brow, stronger than before, and he knew that few words were required to back the action up. “Yeah?”
