He bypassed the real answer and reached out for Jason again; he put one hand on Jason’s knee and curled his fingers over the denim. “He doesn’t ever tell you this,” he said, flashing a knowing, damning look at his younger self. “But he’s fucking crazy for you.”
Young James’ eyes bore into his again, furious, because of course he never wanted Jason to know that–not until it was all too late.
“He never–I never knew how to tell you or how to show you,” James added, the sad, miserable, gut-wrenching truth. He slid his hand up Jason’s thigh, slow enough for Jason to invite him or shut him out. “But I know what you want now. I learned.”

It always happens like this. They always end up together, alone, half-drunk and hopped up on adrenaline and whatever else they’ve managed to find that night, and the next thing they know they’re in some dirty bathroom stall in some seedy bar or in the hotel room they share (if they’re smart, you know) or honestly, just in an alley, sometimes. This time it’s the bathroom.
