Everyone around Ilya starts to notice something. Some see a particularly troubling look in his eyes. Some notice the patterns in his questions to the team whenever they spend an extended amount of time trapped together on the bus or the plane. At least one is clued in by his wife, who took two random passing comments and created a complex and fairly accurate theory. Some stumble upon their partner and their teammate in an awkwardly intimate position, only to discover they were fighting over their theories.

A year after the events of the long game, Hayden Pike joins his best friend on the Ottawa Centaurs roster, much to the chagrin of the captain. Pike might have been created in a lab to annoy Ilya. But, at the end of the day, he was Shane's closest friend. That made him family, however unwillingly.

“What do you want, Rozanov?”
Once upon a time, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov had been something of fated rivals. And then. Rozanov's national team crashed and burned in the 2014 Olympics in his own country. Shortly thereafter, he requested a trade to a Canadian team without much explanation, and by the end of the season, he was playing for Ottawa. Years of buildup and progress thrown away. The rivalry lost its luster after that, with Rozanov hardly a competition.
Now, Rozanov was looking at Shane as if they shared a private joke. “I have, ah, Marly, what's the word? Proposition? Proposal?”
“Business offer,” groaned Marlow, drawing his eyebrows together.
“That,” Rozanov smirked. “Let's sit down, Hollander. Hear me out.”

Or: Shane and Ilya never started hooking up. Several years into their career, some things are very different. At an All-Star game, the only out and proud player in the MLH approaches Shane with the suggestion to start a charity together. It's the beginning of something life changing.

Summary
In season 3, episode 21, "Anything Pierce Can Do, I Can Do Better," both Lucifer Morningstar and Marcus Pierce rush to Chloe Decker's apartment for one last attempt to win her back.
Pierce arrives first, and Lucifer can only watch through a window as Pierce proposes and Chloe accepts.
Unless ... Lucifer got there first? And had a chance to say a few important things before the other man barged in?
He's promised to tell Chloe the truth. How will she handle celestial revelations, a jackass of an ex, too much coffee, not enough sleep, and Pierce's secrets and lies? (Probably with Maze's tequila.)
