“When are you in the mood for it?” Wolfwood questions, raising an eyebrow. “When we’re getting shot at? When you’re prostrating yourself for the next bastard who comes your way? C’mon, Tongari. Put yourself in my shoes here. At least like this I know you’re bein’ honest.” His hand slides its way from Vash’s shoulder to his clavicle, then trails slowly towards his neck, up, up, up—
When his fingertips brush Vash’s jaw, Vash reacts, grabbing him by the wrist, and flipping them over. He moves partially on instinct, his heart racing and his throat gone completely dry. Wolfwood’s breath punches out of him when his back hits the mattress, and Vash presses him into the bed with a knee to the sternum before his sight re-syncs with his brain. Wolfwood’s eyes have gone wide, his lips parted, his hair splayed beneath him. His face is very red, and his chest hitches with quick, staggered breaths.
Vash rips his hand off Wolfwood’s arm and stumbles backwards.

Vash stands up so suddenly the blanket falls from his shoulders. His legs nearly give, but he steadies himself on the cot behind him and croaks, “I need to go. I need to find—Luida—”
“Vash—” Brad starts to say. He’s risen fast, the gathered glass pooled between his palms, but Vash moves faster. It must be the rut itself, fuelling him, even as his vision swims, his head pounding with the abrupt movement.
Every step away from Wolfwood hurts, like there’s a chain hooked into his heart and crawling up out of his throat, shackled around Wolfwood’s own.

Summary
The fact is as well that there really isn’t anything Wolfwood can do to make the feelings go away. Sometimes you just have to ride it out, rather than go around turning over stones waiting for the perfect moment or phrase that will make everything feel better. There’s just no avoiding feeling shitty, particularly when you’ve lived the life that Vash has.
Although, from Wolfwood’s position… It’s not like he can’t do anything.
“Don’t know if I can really stop it,” Wolfwood mutters, and releases Vash’s wrist, cupping his other hand against his face and turning to kiss at his wrist. It’s the prosthetic, so Vash won’t really feel it, but Wolfwood hopes the message is clear enough either way. “But I can take your mind off it for a while.”
Vash opens and closes his mouth, then swallows. “You don’t…”
“C’mon, Vash,” Wolfwood says, softer. “How long’s it been since you lemme take care of you?” He takes Vash’s hand in both of his own, turning it so he can plant an openmouthed kiss on the seat of Vash’s palm. Vash’s mouth falls open, then stays that way, his gaze honed in on Wolfwood’s mouth.

Wolfwood bares his teeth. “Shut me up, then,” he challenges, and doesn’t miss the way Vash’s eyes darken and narrow like a predator sensing its prey.

Summary
Vash pauses at the door when they reach it, but Wolfwood blows past him, catching him by the elbow to pull him over the threshold. Vash’s yelp of surprise is covered by the thump of Wolfwood kicking the door shut behind them, and whatever noise he was going to make next is swallowed by the click of the lock.
“I’m gonna kiss you,” Wolfwood announces.
"Oh.” Vash recognizes the tone beneath the words—the way Wolfwood will sometimes say something out loud to gauge whether it should happen or not. It’s usually along the lines of “I’m gonna knock your teeth in.” It’s never been kissing before.
But now the moment’s here, and Vash is woefully unprepared. He should have realized when he caught Wolfwood giving him that look as he picked himself up off the ground—a look that Vash wouldn’t dare call “smitten” out loud, even if it was the only word that came to mind. Wishful thinking, right?
Wrong.

But the periods where the two silently faced each other for what was probably longer then appropriate, or when the Guard turned his head in his direction, were unmistakable.
Something about Edric had the Guard's attention, and everything about the Guard had his.
It seemed to be a mutual attraction, like two magnets of opposite ends being pulled towards each other.
