Vincent’s eyes widen. “Really?”
“Yes.”
“Alright! So the bar then? Tomorrow night?”
Alastor barely turns to him with a raised brow.
“Are you sure about inviting me? Many implications can be made about someone of your background having a casual drink with someone of mine, and I’m certain your image would not benefit from any of them.”
“Let them. It’s our job to put on a show, after all.”
Alastor is a very popular but private radio host, wanting his reputation to remain untainted from public knowledge of his ethnicity.
But when the Delta Line invites prominent entertainment figures aboard for a leisure trip and Alastor boards as a jazz band member, Vincent is the only one to recognize him purely on his voice alone.
Except, it was always in Vincent’s plans to eliminate the competition, and Alastor knows not to trust his affections. But they have a way of creeping closer to his chest, while Vincent can’t help but make his affections known despite his goal.
Such weaknesses need to be eradicated, and both just happened to be in the business.
