Why? What dreams did you have to give up to raise him? Yudai wants to ask. And then a second later: So how do you know we will work out? What gives you the courage to keep going, and what makes you want to stop? How would I know if I’m someone worth the gamble for the future?

Fuma should have known better than to let himself fall in love with the baker next door. Yudai just needs someone to have a little faith in him. Harua really wants to eat all the bread in the world – and hopefully get taller in the process.

Inside of it... inside, there was a person.
He was beautiful in a way that didn't make sense, posed on a bed of roses that appeared absurd, almost jarring in their softness when paired with the heavy iron shackles on his wrists, his ankles. His clothes were carefully arranged to expose pale slivers of skin, inky black hair tousled, face cleaned just enough to hide the worst of whatever had come before but not all of it.
The bruises remained, one blooming beneath his eye, another like a dark smear at his collarbone.
Hanbin swallowed roughly.

Hanbin intended to stop by the auction only long enough to be seen, then slip away without notice. What he hadn't expected was the boy on stage; shackled and burning with a fury that sears right through him.

Nico wiped his mouth with a napkin and frowned. “It is market research.”
Harua tilted his head like a bored lecturer indulging a very slow student.
HARUA: Right. Because you go out of your way to work at said café when you don’t drink coffee. How many cups of the strawberry latte (no coffee please, thank you hot owner) have you had this month?

Fuma’s eyebrows pulled together slowly. “Then I don’t follow.”
