Trying to ignore the twisting pains in your gut from guilt and hangover, you shoved a cigarette between your lips before fighting against the near-empty lighter to give you something like relief. After a few unsuccessful efforts, the tired flame made enough contact to ignite the cigarette; you inhaled greedily, desperately craving the feeling of literally anything else. The two of you continued in silence, your in- and ex-hales of tobacco smoke being the loudest sound in the vicinity. You offered him the cigarette silently and he politely refused,
