Summary
For nearly a decade, Sirius has lived a quiet life, in company with the owls and the hippogriffs and the dawn chorus, taking only what he needs and trading potions to get by. He makes no friends and introduces himself to nobody. It’s a hard, solitary life, but it’s a safe one- his warded woodland is impenetrable, and he plans for it to remain that way for as long as the fear lasts, tucked amongst the trees that he owes his life. Chestnuts, brambles, baby hippogriffs, bodies- whatever the forest brings him, he promises to be good to it.
So, when the naked stranger appears, face-down in the burn, Sirius takes him in. Of course he does- but just for a night. After all, what harm can it do?
But the stranger comes back again the next month, and the next, and the next. By the summer, he’s starting to leave a set of clothes in the dresser.
(And suddenly the past that Sirius was running from doesn’t seem to far behind him at all.) -

Summary
“You were so angry as a teenager.” Remus counters, wondering how they can still argue so easily after thirteen months apart, when even soft touches feel like open heart surgery. “We fought all the time. You didn’t know what to do- leaving Hogwarts was hard. Our last year was terrifying.”
“I want it back.” Padfoot says, churlishly. Finally, his eyes open and meet the desolate ones in the glass. “I just want it back.”
“Everyone does,” he says, softly, “don’t they?”
Sirius says nothing. Slowly, he finishes dressing, pulling blue socks over his pale feet, and Remus doesn’t know how to apologise, how to fix it. Sirius burns with an unholdable, foldable, hideable hurt- the sort that lingers in silences and lurks in your shadow when the sun comes out.

Summary
JJ can’t stop staring and as he stares, the words come easy. Like floating. Or surfing. Or falling in love.
“So, this is stupid,” he starts. “But. You remember that time when I showed up to the Chateau and basically fell off my bike?”
“I remember.” John B traces the bone of JJ’s wrist with his finger. “Scared the shit outta me.”
“Yeah, sorry, I guess?” JJ tries and John B snorts at him. “Well, you picked me off the ground and once you realized I really couldn’t walk straight, you kinda put your arm around me? You helped me inside, kept asking what happened. I couldn’t even answer ‘cause the only thing running through my head was ‘I didn’t know, I didn’t know.’”
John B stops moving. “Know what?”
There are Kooks and Tourons and Pogues on Kildare, and then there’s something worse. Maybanks.
