Jinx’s shoulders tensed, and she grinned again like she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar. “You don’t think it’s boring? I mean, you’re just sitting here watching me fail over and over again.”
Lux shrugged. “I like how you keep getting up.”

“The kind where you fantasize about murdering a bunch of strangers.” My voice is thick and wobbly, and I don’t know what I’m saying.
“You mean, like, when they piss you off?”
“No,” I state, the weight of that not fully registering. “I see people walk past me and I wonder what it would be like to possess them, and then I picture how I’d kill their family and then myself.”

Summary
Caitlyn’s breath hitched as a hand came up to her cheek, thumb fondly stroking. Jinx looked different; her chaotic demeanor melted into a careful insistence, cold eyes staring her down, asking for more.
“What are you doing?” Caitlyn made no attempt to stop her.
“I’m touching your face.”
“Yes,” she let out the tiniest snicker, “why are you doing that?”
Jinx shrugged, her thumb not stilling. “Feels nice.”
The air was electric, charged by their continuous back and forth, their game of cat and mouse. Sober Caitlyn would have swiped at the hand, played it off, and made a sarcastic comment, but she was too drunk, high, and touch-starved to do that. Was Jinx aware of that? Did she lure her in on purpose, made her smoke and drink so she would let her guard down? Did Caitlyn care about any of that?
“You can tell me to stop,” Jinx mumbled, her breath growing more shallow, chest rising and falling in hypnotic patterns.
“I probably should.”
“Yeah… probably.”

Summary
“Hi there!” the blonde stranger said, casually leaning against the empty counter. Her voice was bright and cheerful, easily carrying over the thumping of the current song. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Uh,” her body tensed, “sure?”
The woman took a step back and posed. “Is this too much red? At home, I thought I nailed this outfit, but now that I’m here, I’m second-guessing. I kinda feel like a Twizzler.”
“You’re joking, right?”
Shining eyes turned worried as soon as she said that, and Jinx’s stomach caught fire. “I-I mean, you’re like, the best looking person here.” She flailed her arms, like that would somehow get her point across. “No competition. I honestly thought you were a model or something. You look… very nice.”
The fuck was that? Jinx stared blankly at the blonde, who was just as taken aback by the words now lingering in the stale air. Heat rose, covering her face in a flush. She quickly looked away, grabbing her drink with a shaky hand. This couldn’t have gone worse.

Jinx has to juggle the weight of loss with her growing anxiety while simultaneously learning to love herself and the people around her.
