    This is part one of a series of fics that explore Dottore as a character. It's not interested in a shallow reading of him as a supervillain, but also not meant to excuse any of his later wrongdoings. It's a psychological exploration of how any man could become what he is today. This is part one of a three-part series that explores his early childhood, part two is him as a teenaged academic that includes the Soreh incident and part three is him as a young adult and includes the hospital and his expulsion.
    It's interspersed with reflections of an adult Dottore looking back on his life. As he ages, you'll feel the gap between 'The Doctor', looking back, and 'Zandik' looking forward, get smaller and smaller.

    Losing a segment was annoying enough when it was in Snezhnaya, losing one in Mondstadt of all places, especially in a summer heat unknown to the Doctor was outright painful so choosing a cool tavern to rest in is an obvious decision to make.

    Meeting up with an old foe was unexpected but ended up working out for the man.
