Levi craves anything, everything. Whatever it takes to drown out the sound of the rain. Because the shower of water against the window pane always makes him think of that day.
The first few times a storm rolled through the barracks, Levi had found and locked himself in a small closet. He’d slid down to the wooden floor and curled in on himself, wrapping his arms around his knees. It was the same position that he’d assumed in the hallway of the brothel whenever his mother worked, and it was the same position that Kenny had found him in as a child after his mother ultimately died. He stayed like that, rocking himself gently, until the thunder and harsh winds that battered the wooden side of the building passed. But once Erwin got his hands on Levi, those days stopped. Instead of spending the passage of a thunderstorm alone in a confined space made up of panels of stone and wood, Levi now spent them wrapped up in affection – confined by hard muscle and the warmth of another body.
