Birgitte is given a dangerous task: she must venture into Borgathien and retrieve the Heartstone, a magical artifact said to hold the power to save the kingdom.
But Birgitte has no knowledge of the magical realm, and no hope of surviving it alone. The only person able to guide her is Michael Laugesen – a dark sorcerer forced into exile… and the very man she herself once exposed and condemned.
