Summary
After the Santa debacle of the previous year, where Peeta had dressed up as Santa and Audrey had burst out into tears thinking her mother was having an affair when the girl had caught her mom kissing Santa Claus, the honour of playing Santa this year went to Haymitch Abernathy, a friend of Katniss’ father. Her parents had decided to throw a little meet ‘Santa and his elves’ party at their house for all the kids they knew. Haymitch had agreed to do it for 80 bucks and a jug of Peeta’s homemade eggnog.

Summary
Even though they had only been dating for two years, and living together for the last couple of months, Katniss and Peeta already had some Christmas traditions of their own. Katniss’ favourite however, was baking Christmas cookies together.
Last year Peeta had taught her how to make almond cookies and this year he was going to teach her a secret family recipe: hot chocolate mint cookies, a holiday favourite in the Mellark household.
Baking cookies together mostly consisted out of Peeta doing the work and explaining what he was doing to her. Katniss participated by breaking the eggs, measuring and then handing Peeta the ingredients and eating batter when Peeta wasn’t looking.
“And last, but not least, we add some—“ Peeta cut short when he looked up at her. “What do you have here?” His thumb went to the corner of her lip to swipe away some batter. “Have you been eating batter behind my back?”

Summary
All had been great until Peeta spotted some mistletoe hanging from the stand where they bought their hot beverages.
“Do you want to— Uh, obviously we don’t have to. It could be fun, kissing. I mean it’s tradition—“ Peeta, normally so well-spoken, seemed to trip over his words. The hand that wasn’t holding his drink started rubbing his neck and his cheek turned from a soft pink to red. “Please say something, Katniss.”
Gale had been the last person Katniss had kissed, and she hated that fact. His lips had lied to her, betrayed her, had broken her heart. She wanted to replace the last kiss he had ever given her with a new one, and under the mistletoe with a guy like Peeta, who was so kind and respectful, seemed perfect.
Instead of answering Peeta with words, she reached up to him to plant her lips on his. That’s when it happened.

Summary
If Katniss had to associate Peeta with a colour it would be blue. Everything about him was blue; his eyes, his favourite faded jeans, the soccer team jersey he wore with pride. Especially his aura was blue; he oozed the calmness of a summer sky, the safety a warm bath can evoke, a certain stability Katniss craved. Peeta was de embodiment of honesty, softness and sincerity to her.
Katniss was red. The way she would rise when under pressure, a fire in her belly, her willpower and determination bigger than her small form. Her love for her loved ones the fuel in her life. Hot-headed, passionate and stubborn about everything mundane. A lot of times overflowing with emotions she couldn’t even name.
The only red thing about Peeta was the way he blushed when she teased him and the strong way he felt about her. But maybe that was more a purple hue, since his love was mixed with the blue of the steadiness of his feelings.
