Elisabeth Jeager is, by far, her Uncle’s greatest headache. She eyes the medal around his neck--the gold circle hanging from a thick ribbon. He's nothing like himself in that moment. His opal-red eyes are on her ankle, where he'd burned her badly enough during their battle that she had started crying. The bandages were thick, making the ankle of her sneaker appear wider than it was. When Emiko shifted awkwardly, he frowned.
He pulled off his medal then. Quietly, quickly, and placed it around her neck instead. He didn't want the medal, not if he had won it by injuring her. He didn't care that he beat Todoroki. He cared about the fact that he had hurt her. Maybe it was an accident, but he still felt awful about it. He'd never live that down, no matter how hard he tried.
"You should have won, Shortstack." He whispered, "You needed it more than I did."
Then he leaned down, and he kissed her.
Without being begged, without being asked, because truthfully, there was a certain understanding between them since USJ.
They loved each other.
And that was their secret.
