Well, if that was her idea of enticing conversation, it was no wonder she had all those evenings free to chase after scoundrels like him. Still, Astarion didn’t want to antagonize her further and ruin the game, so he pursed his lips and guessed, “A very large, well-placed cannon?”
“Tax fraud.”
She looked at him as if she expected some sort of reaction – maybe a dramatic gasp? A palm flung to his forehead in a theatrical rendition of How could I not think of this?
Everything he could muster was a blink. “Tax … fraud.”
She nodded, obviously excited about what Astarion was sure were two of the most boring words in the English language, combined.

Things between them were real now, and somehow more fragile. There was more pressure, when the mask came off and affection was laid bare. Relationships came with certain expectations, and Astarion was certain, despite Tav’s reassurances and support, that he was fulfilling next to none of them.

Summary
Astarion and Tav are both trauma survivors who fall in love. As they grow to care for each other more and more, they learn to change their views on sex from an act of 'taking' to an act of 'giving'. Tav doesn't save Astarion from himself. Instead, Astarion and Tav both choose to heal. This story retells the events through the whole game, with a focus on Act 3, with many of the key romance scenes reimagined for greater emotional impact and sensual details. It also reimagines their life beyond the game, ultimately giving them the happy ending I wished they could have had.
Shadowheart and Lae'zel are Tav's best friends. Tav is a druid.
