Summary
He tries to tell himself it will only be a brief look, out of concern for the Captain, of course, to make sure she isn't ill, or that Eustace isn't an imposter sent to kill her, or something equally outlandish -- he doesn't even know why such a thought crosses his mind.
But what he actually sees, though relieving to a degree, is unexpected to say the least.

“Eustace, again,” Djeeta heaves as she buries her hands into his hair, and lowers her head to meet his lips in another slow and deliberate kiss. This one tastes like all of the pieces of himself he’s missing. As warm as fire blazing across his skin, and as soft as the willowy texture of clouds. If he kissed a shooting star, he imagined it would remind him of her, but she would always be more wild and lovely than any distant light in the sky could ever hope to be. He wants to be set aflame by the stardust and ash she leaves in her wake.
