Summary
“He looks like you,” Sam said, so quiet Dean almost wasn’t sure he’d heard correctly.
“Who?”
Sam snorted a little. “You know. Paul.”
Dean knocked a knuckle against Sam’s nose. “He’s the younger brother, dingus. And he dies. I’m not dying.”
“I know, but, just—"
They were quiet for a moment. Then Dean, softly: “You think so?” He tried to keep his voice even but heat crawled up his cheeks, couldn’t help it.
Sam nodded into his chest.
“Brad Pitt, huh."
“I mean you’re…better…different, but. Always think of you.”

Summary
On the nights he actually manages to fall asleep (few and far between these days), he always, inevitably, jolts awake into the darkness of whatever motel he’s staying in. Papery bed covers rumpled and sweat-soaked beneath him, the room so thick with presence it takes him sometimes minutes to come back to himself, to remember that he is alone and the presence he thinks he feels is just a phantom limb, not really there, not anymore.
And he puts a hand to his chest, feeling for his heartbeat. Takes a slow breath, waits. For what? he wonders. Under his hand, the thudding, constant and without hesitation. It seems impossible, the incessancy of his heart.
He’s not here. He whispers it to himself over and over, tells the blackness: He’s not here.

Summary
When Sam vanishes on a case, it feels like every nightmare Dean's had since he got his brother's soul back is coming true. Waking up buried alive doesn't exactly make it Sam's favorite day, either. The Winchesters will do anything to save each other: that’s almost a natural law. But in nature, everything has a cost, and Sam and Dean have a bad history of not examining the price tag.
