Summary
Pethar remembers the sky when it broke.
He remembers fire, and noise, and the way his world—his home—was there one moment and gone the next. He remembers being put into the shuttle, being told to survive, to live, even if it meant being alone.
Then Earth.
Loud, bright, overwhelming Earth, with its strange air and stranger people, and a city that never seems to stop hurting. Gotham isn’t Varos, and humans aren’t anything like his own kind… but they take him in anyway. The Waynes are confusing, stubborn, and far too kind for their own good.
It’s fine. Everything is fine. He is definitely not slowly becoming attached to a pack of emotionally damaged humans who insist on feeding him and calling him “kid.”
Definitely not.
(or: alien spider-child survives planetary extinction, gets adopted by Gotham’s most dysfunctional family, and slowly starts to hate the idea of leaving)

Summary
After the world forgot him, Peter kept fighting. He was Spider-Man after all. But as the villains get worse and the heroes dwindle, Peter finally grows tired. Hasn't he done his time? He's never once shirked the responsibility forced upon him. Never once has he put himself first.
Eventually, the straw breaks the camel's back. Peter finally hangs up the cape.
Unfortunately the universe seems to disagree. When Peter wakes up in Gotham he knows he should probably find a way home. But what's the point? Normal people don't find their way home across the multiverse, and Peter is normal now. He refuses to be anything else.
So why do unfamiliar heroes keep ending up on his doorstep? And can he really turn them away?

Peter Parker can't catch a fucking break.
Immediately after the Battle of the Statue of Liberty, Peter Parker is sent outside of his universe. Inside a new universe and in New Jersey, Peter is about one bad day from taking a 20-year nap.
The Bats see a new mask that's sniffing around and don't know what to make of them. Jason likes them but that is not the highest point in the Mask's favor.
