“I’m not pining,” is what comes out of Geralt's mouth, a denial tinged with an unfortunate amount of petulance, and he could slap himself upside the head, he really could, he has chosen the worst possible thing to say in front of this particular audience.
“Yeah, no. You’re pining,” Renfri says.
Eskel, leaning against a post just off the stage, looks up from where he’s sharpening his own dagger against a small whetstone and chimes in, “You’re definitely pining.”
Or: The Renaissance Faire is coming to an end, and sword fighter/woodworker Geralt, who has been pining after bard/flower crown seller Jaskier nearly the entire time, decides he won’t let opportunity pass him by.

Love has always been something that Yennefer has kept close to her own heart, guarded carefully, kept quiet and locked up tight, as if speaking aloud about it to others will somehow diminish it, diffuse it throughout the air until she’s surrounded by nothing but wisps of it, futilely trying to grasp it and keep it her own.
Triss has never been that way. Love is like my flowers, she had whispered once, curled around Yennefer, her lips pressing careful kisses along the line of Yennefer’s collarbone. You tend to it, you nourish it, you shine the light on it, and oh, how it will grow.
Everywhere I see things that remind me that I love you. Why not tell you right then? Who cares who else is around to hear it?

Jaskier has so many words.
They’re constant, relentless, ceaseless. A bombardment of words. An onslaught of words. A veritable barrage of words.
(Jaskier would appreciate the grandeur of these words, if Geralt shared his thoughts aloud. Bombardment, onslaught, barrage. Descriptive words. Poetic words. The sort of words the bard uses to transform the most banal contract into a thrilling adventure. They’re not words Geralt would have thought to use before Jaskier.)

There's a tender swollen lump at the back of his skull, his hair is a mess and all sweaty, but Jaskier still chokes on a plaintive little sound of appreciation as Geralt’s strong fingers run through his locks, combing them back from his damp face with a thoughtless intimacy that Jaskier barely knows what to do with.
This is the best worst day of his life.
__This is a midquel/missing scene for NoRationalThoughtRequired's adorable bookshop owner/busker Geraskier AU, time to wonder, do I dare? - this takes place somewhere between Jaskier and Geralt's first hug and Jaskier's birthday within that fic. If you haven't read it please go read it it's the best kind of utter fluff and this fic will make more sense. (Or you can just take everybody at face value as bookshop employees and friends with unresolved sexual tension for the next 4k words, your call, reader.)
