The Phirus infection turned people into flesh-eating, aggressive zombies that work together to hunt humans like prey. Until a cure can be found from his blood, there's only one way to deal with a screecher, and that's to shoot it. After all, the only good zombie is a dead one. But after a supply run goes bad, Sam is caught off guard without a weapon or a way out. That's when he meets a screecher who might just change his mind.

As if to prove his point, he raised his hand as if to knock on the doorframe, but when his slightly translucent knuckles brushed against the wood, they instead moved right through it before reforming on the other side.
