Summary
The witcher knew that he himself wasn’t special, that he was just one of the people the hermit decided to save. Probably only because he believed it was the right thing to do.
But his traitorous heart somehow still hoped that, despite how inadequate he was, Xie Lian would keep him by his side. It didn’t matter if he felt the same way as Hua Cheng. It didn’t even matter if he viewed him as a bit of a nuisance, just as long as Hua Cheng was allowed to remain. To protect him from harm, to help him be free from all worries so that he could achieve whatever goals he decided to set for himself.
Yes, it was probably foolish of him and definitely more than a little pathetic. But he could not deny that over the past few months the kind, unassuming man became the center of his universe.
___Or,
Hua Cheng gets gravely injured and finds himself rescued by a mysterious hermit, who might just be more than he lets on.
