Summary
Yes, Ilya Rozanov is happier than he has ever been. Nothing can take this feeling away. Nothing. Or so he thought. It’s funny how quickly things can change. It only takes one instant.
Ilya could do nothing but watch as one of his own teammates slammed Shane into the sideboards. Shane had been caught offguard, too focused on making the pass to see the big man barreling toward him. Ilya saw it, though. Time slowed as he watched how hard the impact was, Shane’s body crumpling to the ground. Shane was on his side, curled in a ball, motionless.
Not again. Not this again.
Or: A year after Shane's last accident on the ice, he has another. Ilya freaks out. He can't do this again. Luckily, this time he isn't facing things alone.

“Yuna,” she heard her name being called softly.
Had she ever heard Ilya Rosanov speak so softly and so gently before? In interviews he was always so boisterous and arrogant. Was that how he spoke to Shane in private when it was just the two of them?
The last few hours had opened her eyes to the fact that she knew almost nothing about Shane’s life outside hockey. She used to know everything about him. She used to know all his friends and his girlfriends. She used to know what he had for lunch and what odd thing a classmate had done during recess. She used to know everything because Shane used to tell her everything.
When did that change? When did Shane change?
