Summary
For all of his kindness and his patience, even Mingyu isn’t so blind to believe that simple gestures are enough to win him the respect he wants. Seokmin is living, breathing proof of the opposing forces waiting to challenge Mingyu’s future leadership of the Alliance.
It’s something that Mingyu can’t change - the inherent animosity that exists even before an impression can be made, the distrust and the envy that wells up outside of Mingyu’s control. It’s a wall that Seokmin built even before Mingyu knew his name, but Mingyu will break it.
Mingyu will break him.

“it’s…” seokmin turns away, and mingyu notes the immediate blanching of his complexion. “jaehyun. oh my god.” his eyes are widened in panic. “ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod. do you think we should go say hi?”
mingyu gets the sense that seokmin feels the need to prove his worth, and, well. as supportive as mingyu is of the cause, he supposes can’t deny himself the delight of seeing the adorably awkward side of seokmin making a comeback in the face of his old flame.

“I’m sorry,” Mingyu repeats and Seokmin tries to find his voice.
“It’s just a broken plate,” he manages to whisper.
“No, I mean—”
“Hyung, what the hell do you have in this box? It’s so—” Seokmin turns back to see Seungkwan and Hansol carrying one of Seokmin’s bigger boxes together. Seungkwan is frozen at the entrance, eyes going back and forth between Mingyu and Seokmin. Seokmin thinks he hears him swear softly and Mingyu lets out a sigh behind him.
“Boo, what's—” Hansol’s head pops from behind Seungkwan. “Oh, this is fun.”
Seokmin is over Mingyu. He is, really. Being roommates with him is not an issue at all.
