Summary
The textbook definition of burn is to injure, damage, destroy with heat and fire. So someone, anybody, explain why when the only word that could encapsulate the pain in Reo’s throat was burning, searing hurt, the boy could only feel what is described as absolute, bitter cold, as chilly and seemingly empty as the voided gaze of his supposed “partner for life’s” eyes.
