Summary
“You alright there, sweetcheeks?” the redhead asks slyly. She shifts forward on her sculpted forearms, intrigued. The sheer audacity is met only with Harrow’s dumbstruck expression.
Harrow’s throat feels impossibly arid and tacky, almost to the point of pain. Rendered speechless by pseudo-eye contact. A slightly less overt invitation to banter might have involved fanfare and a formal inquiry written in script. Flirting is not a wholly unknown concept to her, but still daunting nevertheless, the beginning of a ten mile hike. The brief point of contact had been the first step. One, hopefully, that would be the beginning of many.
Instead of embarking on the second step, Harrow turns on her heels and briskly exits the cafe.

Summary
“Hey! Get away from the edge,” someone shouted, their voice alarmed. Stede almost jumped out of his skin at the unexpected presence, but he did as told, stumbling away from the cliff's edge and into safer ground. “Are you crazy, mate? You fall, you’re dead.”
And later, much later, Stede would say it was love at first sight. But for now, he stood there, breathless from fear and something else, something more, as he turned to face Edward Teach for the first time.
–––
Following a stressful but amicable divorce with his former wife Mary, Stede Bonnet decides to leave his old life behind for a summer. In search of inspiration to begin writing his first novel, he ends up in the small and charming coastal town of Queen’s Revenge. There, the urban legend of the Kraken and the peculiar townspeople are enough to inspire him. But writing inspiration is not all he finds. Edward Teach, the owner of the most notable restaurant in town, not only manages to capture Stede’s interest by being one of the few people Stede easily connects with, but by having a strange and puzzling past of his own.- Language:

“It’s a trust exercise,” Stede started, nodding and caressing the silk between his fingers. “Like I said, it’s okay if you don’t like it- truly is- but I’d like it for us to try.” He smiled, that reassuring turn of his lips that got Ed’s heart to beat slower every time. “And who knows? You might surprise yourself with the outcome.”

Summary
Ed read the title of his latest paper again. A Gentle Betrayal: Factors That Have Affected Stede Bonnet’s “The Gentleman Pirate” Fall. Ed wanted to pull his hair, scream, maybe leave Bonnet a hate mail in the process. Because this is war.
He wasn’t paranoid, no, he wasn’t making things up.
Stede Bonnet wrote this pissy paper in response to his latest one.
Edward was fucking sure.
