“Pink’s a good color on you, little faerie,” Geralt whispered, the back of his knuckle tracing reverently under Jaskier’s eye. The touch was so gentle, careful not to hit any burns. “My valiant protector.”
Frozen, Jaskier could only blink as his cheeks colored more. “I wouldn’t need to protect you if you didn’t wander into the damnable fae wilds,” he huffed, anger utterly ineffective as he leaned into Geralt’s tender touch.————
Trigger warning for burn injuries here! Just wanted to give another heads up in case you missed the tag. Nothing too graphic, but I suppose that's subjective and wanted to cover it just in case. :)Sometimes, you want to write a monster of a fic with extensive worldbuilding and a carefully planned plot. Others, you want to write a cute little hurt/comfort fic with Fae Jaskier.
Fair warning, I realize we get to the happy ending pretty quick in this one! Emphasis on the comfort for sure. It's not exactly fluff with no plot... but it's not my usual deep, introspective characterizations that I try my best to make realistic. The world's on fire (you'll get the pun later) and I want happy shit, damn it. I hope you enjoy nonetheless.

Summary
For the prompt:
Geralt and Jaskier are raising their young daughter, Ciri, in a nice suburban neighborhood where Jaskier is beloved by all their neighbors and half the town thinks Geralt is a vampire because he so rarely leaves the house.
Jaskier gets held up at work and can't pick Ciri up from school. Geralt goes to pick her up from her after school care program and the two young women running it take one look at Geralt, and his silver hair, and mistake Geralt for Ciri's (admittedly very well preserved) grandfather. Geralt surprises himself with how insulted he is by the suggestion.
He tells his husband, for some unfathomable reason, and Jaskier is ready to go raise hell. His husband doesn't look a day over thirty-five, thank you very much!
Geralt, quietly, in the background: ...I'm twenty-nine.
