She looked up at him, switching up their conversation to a stand-off. They were both doctors. They weren’t stupid. He studied the curves of her face; her large brown eyes giving him all the attention, pieces of hair falling from her haphazard ponytail, her lips moist from the water. “What am I doing here, Frank?” she spoke softly, eyes moving a mile a minute over his face.
“You tell me,” he countered in a whisper, leaning closer to her.
